About Course

Tanjore Painting is a Classical South Indian painting style. It is the native art form of Tanjore (Thanjavur) city of Tamil Nadu. Most of Tanjore Painting revolve usually around the theme of Hindu God and Goddess, figures, birds, flowers and animals.
Modern day Tanjore paintings is becoming very popular nowadays with people willing to experiment with new subjects and ideas in this traditional art form.

Tanjore Painting will be introduced to learners by first giving adequate practice on typical Tanjore Art in pencil drawing, followed by practice in brush to help learners master good hand movements.
The students are encouraged to select two ( 1 classwork and 1 homework) subjects by themselves, guidance and support will be provided by explaining the intricacies and complexity involved to help identify the best subjects.
One Subject will be classwork and another homework. Both work will have to be carried out simultaneously. For classwork all necessary material will be provided as a part of this course, board size will be 10X12 and along with final normal frame of the completed art work. Students have a free hand in deciding the size of the painting for homework and will have to use their own material for the same.
All steps involved in making of a Tanjore painting will be taught and demonstrated.

CERTIFICATION – A course completion certification will be issued on successfully completing the 2 pieces of Tanjore Art Work

Anybody above the age of 12 years having inclination in drawing and little patience can learn. No previous experience necessary.
